Los pulmones intervienen en la oxigenación de la sangre, participando así en el ciclo respiratorio humano. Están formados por bronquios unidos por tejido conectivo que se bifurcan hasta la altura de los alvéolos, así como por un sistema vascular paralelo.
Los pulmones están formados por tejido conectivo que encierran unas estructuras tubulares (los bronquios), que se van bifurcando progresivamente desde la tráquea, hasta formar unos túbulos mucho más finos (alveolos). Paralelamente a estas estructuras tubulares, discurren un sistema vascular.
El hombre toma aire a través de la nariz o, con menos frecuencia, a través de la boca. El interior de la nariz está recubierto por una membrana mucosa que humedece el aire que se inhala, lo calienta y lo limpia de contaminantes. La nariz y la boca están conectados a través de la faringe y la laringe con la tráquea. A través de la laringe, el aire llega en primer lugar a la tráquea, que tiene una longitud de entre 10 y 12 centímetros. La tráquea tiene forma tubular y desciende hasta la cuarta vértebra torácica donde se bifurca para dar lugar a los dos bronquios principales: el del pulmón derecho y el del pulmón izquierdo.
Los pulmones están conformados por lóbulos, tres en el pulmón derecho y dos en el izquierdo. Estos lóbulos a su vez se subdividen en segmentos más pequeños (por ejemplo, segmento inferior, superior o medio). A su vez dentro de los lóbulos pulmonares discurre un sistema tubular bronquial. Es decir, los bronquios principales izquierdo y derecho, se van subdividiendo, disminuyendo progresivamente su diámetro, en bronquios, bronquiolos y alveolos.

Los alveolos están recubiertos por una pared capilar. Un tejido extremadamente fino de algunos micrómetros de espesor entre los alvéolos y los capilares llenos de sangre realiza el intercambio, es decir, el proceso de difusión, entre el aire que se toma y la sangre. REMI A137. Wikis: otra forma de colaborar en Medicina.
La palabra “wiki”, del hawaiano “rápido”, fue utilizada por primera vez en 1995 por Ward Cunnigham, un experto en programación, quien diseñó un tipo de web fácil de editar de modo colaborativo, sencilla de adaptar y que permitiera enlaces rápidos hacia afuera y dentro de la propia estructura, al tiempo que funcionara como base de datos. Aquella antigua y robusta wiki sigue aún funcionando, aunque el paradigma hoy día de este tipo de webs colaborativas sea la famosa Wikipedia.

El sistema digestivo es un largo tubo (14 a 18 m de longitud aproximadamente), con importantes glándulas asociadas (glándulas anexas), siendo su función la transformación de las complejas moléculas de los alimentos en sustancias simples (digestión) y fácilmente utilizables por el organismo al ser incorporadas al sistema sanguíneo (absorción) para ser distribuidas al hígado y de ahí una vez procesadas a las células del organismo.

HISTOLOGÍA
Hay cuatro capas en la pared del tubo digestivo:

• Mucosa:  Va a ser estratificado en aquellos segmentos en contacto con segmentos alimenticios grandes: boca, faringe, esófago y ano. Monoestratificado, en las fases de digestión y de absorción. El epitelio presenta glándulas mucosas productoras de moco, con función protectora y lubricante.

• Submucosa. En esta Submucosa va a haber una gran abundancia de vasos sanguíneos. En ella se encuentra el plexo (red) submucoso de Meissner, este plexo es de carácter nervioso vegetativo, es el primer nivel de regulación digestiva.
Va a formar parte del sistema neuroentérico intrínseco. El plexo submucoso va a tener un papel principal de regular la secreción de las glándulas.

• Capa muscular externa. Encontramos dos capas de fibras musculares; la primera capa es circular y por encima de ella está la capa muscular longitudinal. En esta capa más externa se encuentra el plexo mientérico de Auerbach, que es el primer componente del sistema neuroentérico intrínseco, actúa sobre el músculo del tubo digestivo, es decir regula la motilidad muscular.
• Capa externa. Está formada por la adventicia (o capa más externa del tubo digestivo) o por la serosa que recibe el nombre de peritoneal. El peritoneo recubre a gran parte de estructuras intraabdominales.

La Web 2.0 es  una nueva generación de webs que frecen aplicaciones y herramientas que permiten convertir al usuario en un elemento activo en el mundo virtual. Pasar de ser un buscador y consumidor de información a un creador de contenidos, que los comparte, que participa y forma redes sociales a través de todo el mundo y lo más importante, que el médico se convierte en el centro de un universo alrededor del cual giran sus pacientes, familiares y demás miembros de la comunidad que está interesada en obtener información de primer orden. Se puede loga todo esto sin tener que ser un experto en informática y sin tener que conocer un lenguaje informático especial. La gran ventaja que podemos sacarle a las herramientas de la Web 2.0 es la utilidad de éstas para nuestra labor diaria como médicos, como docentes,  como investigadores y como científicos en busca de actualizaciones constantes. La Web 2.0 ha invadido los pilares de la Medicina al extremo que actualmente ya se habla de la Medicina 2.0 y la Salud 2.0. es decir herramientas de la Web 2.0 aplicadas a la medicina.

La investigación con seres humanos es un privilegio, no un derecho. Los principios de la investigación ética son universales, es decir, no dependen de los límites geográficos, culturales, legales o políticos. Pero la disponibilidad de los recursos necesarios para garantizarlos no es universal. Por otro lado, cada investigación es particular, tiene lugar en un contexto cultural concreto y un entorno local.

Principios de la ética de la investigación:

-Respeto por las personas: Se basa en reconocer la capacidad de las personas para tomar sus propias decisiones, es decir, su autonomía, reconociendo también que cada persona tiene dignidad.
-Beneficiencia: Hace que el investigador sea responsable del bienestar físico, mental y social del paciente. Implica no hacer daño o reducir los riesgos al mínimo, por lo que también se le conoce como principio de no maleficiencia. 
-Justicia: Prohíbe exponer a riesgos a un grupo para beneficiar a otro, pues hay que distribuir de forma equitativa riesgos y beneficios
